Rum Raisins

January 26th, 2010

A couple years ago while in Fort Worth with my friend Randy I tried some rum raisins that his grandpa had been saving for 8 years or so. That shit was AWESOME! I could have put it on pancakes. It was thick and syrupy. Sweet, raisiny, and pretty alcoholic. It was delicious.

I made some a couple years ago, but it got lost in a move. So, last night I made some more.

Here’s how.

You’ll need raisins (of course). Rum, I picked up some Sailor Jerry’s, which turned out being a pretty sweet smelling spiced rum. You’ll also need jars or some sort of sealable container (the longer you keep them, the better!).

Step 1

Clean out the jars and fill them with raisins.

Step 2

Distribute the rum evenly in the raisin-filled jars.

Step 3

Let it set. I put one in the cupboard, one in the fridge, and one out in the open (maybe light will effect the out come)

I’m going to open one of the jars every year and test it out. The others i think I’m going to let set for a while. Maybe I’ll save one for Aton (that’s like 20 years of raisins in rum!). Enjoy responsibly.
